Coatings for boats

SAYERLACK has been a leader for the last 50 years in the production of special varnishes for the interior furnishings of vessels. Our Research Laboratory, one of the most important in the wood varnish sector, continually develops new products that better meet customers' needs. New painting cycles have been fine-tuned with high level physical and chemicals resistance as well as notable elasticity; indispensable requirements when applying finish to a vessel's inside furnishings.

The new painting cycles have passed several stringent tests with flying colours, such as:
Light Resistance UNI 9427
Pencil Hardness ASTM D3363
Grids EN ISO 2409
Resistance to Temperature Changes UNI 9429

These systems offer notable application versatility since they can be successfully applied on a wide variety of surfaces; you only need to be careful to use the proper Sealer for the chosen surface, for example:
Porous woods such as Mahogany, Oak, Ash, etc TU 565
Resinous woods like Pine, Teak TR 4027
Reconstituted or bleached woods XT 4022


Suitable Basecoat Systems include several different types. For example:
Polyurethane: TU 141 catalyzed with TH 780, making it transparent and elastic.
Polyester: PU 386 reduced styrene odour, PU 6019 with high transparency, PU 317 good vertical hold and brushable.
There can be three different types of catalysis for these products:
With PH 888 (Accelerator) and PH 999 (Peroxide) for general use;
With PH 222 (Accelerator) and PH 666 (Peroxide) to noticeably prolong pot-life;
With PH 777 (Accelerator) to reduce yellowing caused by a peroxide accelerator for use on light and coloured timbers.

Various Topcoats are also suitable, for example:
Polyurethane wet look TL 335 which can be burnished.
Acrylic wet look TL 336 totally non-yellowing and burnishable.
Opaque Polyurethane like TZ 58** in a range of gloss levels.
Opaque Acrylic like TZ 70** in a range of gloss levels.
The Acrylic Painting System is better for bleached woods where you wish to preserve the wood's color or have the applied film varnish appear transparent.
